PURPOSE

 

The Leon Valley Economic Development Corporation (LVEDC) purchased a new 20 x 20 outdoor screen with projection equipment in April of 2017 to move forward with more Movies in the Park opportunities for the community. This budget adjustment will allow the continuation of the Movies in the Park initiative that was originally started by the LVEDC with funding coming from the 1/8 percent of the General Fund dedicated to economic and community development.

Social Equity - Is demonstrated by the City providing outstanding recreational amenities for residents and visitors to the Movies in the Park event and encourages collaborative participation by residents, businesses and stakeholders in a large-scale family friendly event.

 

Economic Development-The City’s Movie in the Park event exhibits a distinctive and welcoming identity providing opportunities to market and brand the City for potential developers, businesses and/or residents.

 

Environmental Stewardship - Will be demonstrated by stakeholders onsite regarding recycling and sustainability.

 

FISCAL IMPACT

 

Funding will come from the 1/8 percent of the General Fund dedicated to economic and community development.

Approve the budget adjustment for the General Fund in the amount of $1,580.00 for the Movies in the Park.

APPROVING A BUDGET AMENDMENT TO THE FY 2016-2017 GENERAL FUND OF THE CITY OF LEON VALLEY, TEXAS MUNICIPAL BUDGET IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,580.00 FOR THE MOVIES IN THE PARK PROJECT.

 

WHEREAS, on August 14, 2016 the City Council of the City of Leon Valley adopted the 2016-2017 fiscal year budget: and

 

WHEREAS, in April 2017, the Leon Valley Economic Development Corporation purchased a new 20x20 outdoor screen with projection equipment for the Movies in the Park Project; and

 

WHEREAS, to move forward with more Movies in the Park opportunities for the community it is necessary to amend the 2016-2017 General Fund Budget in the amount of $1,580.00; and

 

WHEREAS, this budget amendment will be funded from the 1/8 percent of the General Fund dedicated to economic and community development; and

 

WHEREAS, the Texas Local Government Code Section 102.010 provides that a municipality is not prohibited from making changes to a budget for municipal purposes: and

 

WHEREAS, the Leon Valley City Council hereby finds and determines that the amendments adopted under this ordinance are for a municipal purpose; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LEON VALLEY, TEXAS, THAT: 

 

SECTION 1.              The FY 2016-2017 General Fund of the City of Leon Valley is hereby amended in the amount of $1,580.00 for the Movies in the Park Project as provided for in Exhibit “A”, attached hereto and incorporated herein for all purposes.

 

SECTION 2.              The financial allocations in this Ordinance are subject to approval by the Director of Finance. The Director of Finance, may, subject to concurrence by the City Manager or the City Manager's designee, correct allocations to specific accounts as necessary to carry out the purpose of this Ordinance.

 

SECTION 3.              This ordinance is effective immediately upon passage by four (4) affirmative votes; otherwise it is effective on the tenth day after passage hereof.
